What Jeep do I drive?: JK
Default help asap please!

i wanted to change my coolant so i read my haynes manual and it told me to remove my bottom drain plug which i did and some coolant came out. next was to remove the drain plug on the side of the block. which I couldn't reach.

I had read on the net just to d/c the bottom hose on the radiator. Which i assumed was the big fat one right hand side of my jeep. i then put my hose in the radiator cap and it just come back out the hole below it where the pipe was.

Can anyone tell me what to do as I am now stood looking at my Jeep wishing I had stuck to paying over the odds for someone else to do it!

I hope I get a response soon!! lol

I find your it best to push the bottom hose back on then fill at cap then pull hose back off and repeat a few times.... otherwise your just flushing the first few rows and bottom tank and remove top hose and flush from there as well.... then if you wanna get fussy use a flush additive as per intructions and dont forget to turn your heater on.....

thanks, so I'm doing it right? I only got half a bucket of coolant out. I read in my manual it takes 11.4L?

Take the top hose off at the block and the bottom hose off either the radiator or the block whichever is easiest and as the coolant normally runs from drivers side to passenger side put your garden hose in the bottom hose (ie, radiator) and run the water so it comes out the top hose. That's called reverse flushing. You could do the same to the block but you may not get much water past the thermostat.
Yes it holds 11.4 L, but there will still be a lot of water/coolant left in the block.
