Default Mazda CX-5 Diesel issue makes the headlines

SMH Article

But when a JK has a diesel issue, or burning too much oil in the 3.8 V6 (or the problems with the Pentastar in the U.S.), you get the reaction of; 'It's a Jeep, what do you expect?'

I have always been concerned with oil consumption and having to top up oil not drain because it has gone over full with contaminants and needs to be replaced when over full.
Checking every 1000km is not much of a long distance tourer Drive from Toowoomba to Sydney and have to take in to dealer to replace oil and drive home and have to do same I would be disappointed and wondering what is going into the oil to raise the level.

I have a rear main seal leak at the moment.
Its a PITA ! Checking/top up every 500km. Basically when ever it needs fuel, it needs oil.
When the weather warms a bit it will be fixed.

I dont understand what the issue with the mazda is. Is the particulate filter flushed with engine oil? It all sounds like environmental crap causing more problems than they fix.
