Default Gauge

Hi all again, wondering if anyone can help,we recently did an 8k-km trip in the xj,no probs really, but i do seem to have an erratic temp gauge, so we cut the guts out of the thermostat thinking it might be at fault, but no change. The prob is when i go around a corner or brake the dial go's up half a quadrant straight away, but when i take off or drive straight again in rectifies itself almost just as fast !, i went to the radiator specialist and he reckons its already got an aftermarket brass radiator, the viscous and thermo fans are o'k' and that the pump pumps water, the gauge normaly sits just over half in town and just under on the highway, made no diff taking thermostat out just took longer to heat up,anybody got any ideas with the gauge ?,cheers.

Left or right corner? It could be that the wiring is swinging a bit & has chafed through. When you are going straight, it is ok, but when you corner it swings & shorts out, perhaps.

Or something else is moving when you corner & shorting it.
