Lightbulb commander is rattling

I have an 07 commander diesel and upon startup it gives off this natky rattle.
The Jeep mob here tried telling me it was my flex plate and wanted to slug me $3000 to fix it. You could guess what I said. I have had a look around underneath and cant really tell if its coming from that region or somewhere else. Almost sounds like the starter because the rattle dissappears after a few seconds. Vehicle still drives well with no real cluncks or bumps during gear changes. Has been doing it for about 15000kms now. Any ideas what it may be??? Cheers.

I would be suprised if it was the flex plate, the noise wouldn't go away after a few seconds and it would fail completely fairly quickly. I dont think it would last 15,000k's it would have self destucted before then
You haven't given us much to go on.
Is the noise comming from the bottom or top of the motor, back or front.
Does the frequency of the noise rise and fall with engine revs, or does it remain constant? Does it happen everytime you start the motor, or only when cold?

Noise comes from the bottom end around where transmission joins rear of motor. Noise is only on start up and lasts anywhere from 1 second to 30 seconds or so. Does not come back again until next start up (hot or cold). Drives good, no clunks or bangs between gear changes.

The starter motor throw out mechanism may be gummed up and not disenging completely.
Start from the easy to check first.
If it was the flex plate it would be there all the time, I would think.
