My Mud Hogs (285/70R17's) matched up perfect when the Procal was set to 32.5" tyre.

I measured across the tyre. I have heard all different ways of measuring! How ever, the amount of air or weight on the tyre will not effect its rolling circumference. If it did then changing from 35 to 28 psi would throw out the speedo too (and the steel belts would have to be able to stretch or shrink).

Just for shits and giggles I measured the circumference of the tyre and calculated the diameter at 32.96 in. Double checked dipswitch settings and all is correct. Will check with AEV their way of measuring the tyre and see what they say.

Ok. Just found on the AEV forum a reply from AEV Dave.

You measure from the ground to the top of the tyre with normal inflation and full weight of the vehicle.

I did this and it came to 32 in which is pretty close to the measurement needed to make it work properly. I wonder why they did it this way? This is not a true representation of the tyres rolling diameter which is what the speedo is based on.

Oh well, guess it doesnt really matter as long ong as it works!

Default Speedo recalibration

Mine was the same. Just as MM said, I just kept lowering it until it matched the GPS speed. Everything else on the Procal works great.

I think you will find it is ! The tyre rubber compresses a bit under the cars weight, but some of this, not all is recovered when rolling.

Uep. It's not that the device is wrong, it's just the method they used for measuring the tyre. What they think is 32 is really 33.

All good, as long as we know how to use it! It's just a shame they dont mention how to measure the tyres in any of their documentation, especially when they use a non standard method.
