Default 4wd low fix, well worked for me

I bought my GC 2007 limited crd around a month ago from toyota had the service 4wd system message toyota gave it to jeep who informed my wife they reflashed firmware great get home test low range and it worked........ go bush on the weekend inthe snow try to engage low and low and behold service 4wd system and no action from the selector motor spent the day only driving where toyotas could go in high range anyway tonight i decided to try this trick it is from this thread somewhere but also found it on a us forum. i have engaged and disengaged low seven or eight times so far to see if it worked so far so good. message on jeeps facebook page from Andrew Buckwell.

1. Turned my car on (engine running) checked that the 4wd service message was still occurring when I pulled the low 4wd)

2. turned my car off keys out. opened the bonnet.

3. Went to the fuse box under the bonnet took fuse labelled fdcm/ediff out.

4.Shut bonnet, got in my car started it with the fuse out put it in drive, drove 2 meters forward then put it in reverse drove 2 m backwards (be aware you will get the service 4wd light without pulling up the lever as you are driving).

5. Turned my car off keys out, went to the bonnet put fuse back in and shut bonnet .

6. Started my car put it in drive got the car rolling just below 5 mph (as this makes it easier to activate low 4wd -- read manual) put it into neutral while rolling and pulled the low 4wd switch -- it worked

My action against FC over this N23 debacle will be heard in the Grafton District Courthouse on July the 15th.To put it in simple terms I want FC to fix my low 4x4 permanently and immediately or purchase my vehicle back at the price I paid for it in Sept last year.(After 4 trips to the dealer ,10 months later still only maybe fixes. Why should we be used as guinea pigs by FC .Going backwards and forwards to the dealer costs me time and money ,for a problem FC caused.!!!!)
It should be an interesting day.!!

BJM,

With you on this one and hoping that you get a good outcome from the hearing. I have driven Jeeps for 20 years (currently a 2008 WH) and am disgusted with the way FC have handled the N23 Recall.

I have not had the recall done because of all the problems reported by other owners. However, it gives me no comfort that mine still works; it is the lack of customer support from Jeep that annoys me most. After three Grands, a WK2 would have been top of the list when it came time to replace my WH, however, my trust in the brand has been forever tarnished by FC's handling of this Recall. I suspect FC don't care as long as they keep selling the new model. It doesn't take much to destroy a brand name but it takes a hell of a lot to recover it once lost - just ask Jag, Rover, Fiat and other brands that ignored their customers.

Glad you are taking this fight up to FC on behalf of many dissapointed WH owners.

TimM.
Same scenario 18 years of nothing but Jeeps. However since this 2010 WH was purchased while still under warranty FC have all but destroyed any brand loyalty I had. What with other warranty issues ie waiting weeks for parts ,plus this N23 saga, really leaves a real bad taste !!
Thanks for the support WH owners.
