Default CJ8: Dropped Dead FRED - The REVIVAL!

Back in 2011, I bought a CJ8 sight Unseen.

Named "FRED". I flew up to QLD with my bags, got in & drove straight through to Cairns to meet the rest of the SJC clan.

Well after an awesome trip to the Cape, full of on track repairs. We made it back to Sydney with no cooling fans, 1/2 the radiator cores crimped up & full of pepper (& yes it works well, to dam well really). NO Neutral or Reverse, it started in Gear & drove all in the one motion.

After getting home & moving into my new house I had bought while traveling (which I don't recommend). I took Fred to a mates workshop. Where we had planned to swap out the I6 for a 360 over the weekend only to fine the chassis had been snapped in two on the right hand rail just in front of the rear mount of the front spring.
The Left hand rail had been crushed in 3 places.

So all plans stopped there & Fred was loaded onto the trailer retired home & Stuck up the side of the house to waste away.

Until now!

A New Chassis has been sourced & work has started.

Step 1: To Strip back the new chassis, find & repair cracks & make strengthening brackets.

Step 2: Fit XJ Drive line, Swap body & rebuild/register Fred ready for JAMBO 15.

After an hour or so of grinding / wire wheel, I've decided to buy a soda blaster. As it will get into the places the wire wheel just can't.

Lord Help Me I'm in to JEEP!

Good luck.
Is that Jambo 2015 or 2115?
