Question ausbass

Hi Problems with my 2007 Jk 2.8 CRD. When I turn the key on it takes a long time (1-1.5 mins) for the fuel pump to reach full pressure. I can hear this if I step out of the jeep. If you you do not wait it struggles to start. New filter installed. Is this normal

You certainly seem to have a problem. What do you mean by "fuel pump"? There is a fuel pump in the fuel tank to prime the system, and there is a high pressure fuel injection pump. Are monitoring rail pressure?

Does it happen every time? Or just once after you installed it? It sounds as if there is an air leak somewhere. I would put something under the car to determine if it is leaking diesel. More likely air is getting in though. Clean all the connections and reinstall filter ensuring all mating surfaces are clean.

My electric fuel pump keeps working for quite some time but I start the car as soon as the warning lights turn off, any earlier and it cranks for some time before starting.

Its probably more the glow plugs warming up the air.
