Default Odometer screen not working

Hi all,

I have a non working odometer screen on a 2008 jk unlimited rubicon. Just the odometer, everything else on he cluster works fine.

I've done a search but this doesn't seem to be a common problem. I've taken the instrument cluster out and made sure the wires are seated properly, but no joy. I wasn't real keen to try to disassemble the cluster lest I do more damage.

Any ideas? I'll have a look

Tried the dash test mode ?

Hold down the left ( IIRC ) push button whilst your turning on the key.... dash will do a self test of all displays.

Have now, it doesn't illuminate during the test. Guess that means it'll need replacing. Can you do just the screen or is it the whole cluster?

Its a Jeep.... you probably have to buy half the dash

But seriously its a single assembly so the whole cluster. Also i'm unsure where the odometer information is stored so there may be security issues if you just swap it over with another one.

Of course I'm just guessing, as you said its rare so no information out there.

Of course it could just be a dry joint... so if you have a mate that electronically inclined an inspection / rework MIGHT be effective - but apart form that you likely on your own.

Wouldn't hurt to ring a Jeep Wrecker.... they MAY have some experience with this sort of "swapzies" thing.
