Sweet! Thanks spoondog - more reassurance is even better.

SeaComms - we're in Mt Isa (moved from Cairns at beginning of December) - and bought the wee beastie from the dealer in Cairns.

It does ride and handle very nicely - surprisingly the ride is actually very similar in overall feel to our Bilstein / Whiteline equiped Falcon - especially at high speed on fairly uneven road - tho of course the Falcon corners and brakes much better. The TH is a lot quieter / classier / more refined naturally and at least as comfortable as the Falcon - and can do all the above on much rougher roads than the lowered Falcon can ultimately cope with - and offroad which the Falcon just can't do - which is the whole point of getting it.

Having driven XT Forester and mildly worked Tiguan before, I can say the TH tops both of those in all respects so far and indeed does basically drive like quite a sporty little car in spite of being a decent midsized SUV. Tiguan prolly felt closest but not as powerful.

We've found "Snow" mode makes it behave most consistently and like a normal automatic car - ie. "Auto" is very punchy off the line but tends to be... "quirky" and often puts you in gears you don't really want to be in - requiring a fair bit of pedal at times to get it all where you need it - where the more moderate behaviour of "Snow" mode makes for much more relaxed, entirely tractable - and most importantly PREDICTABLE - and even lively if you want it - driving. That actually bothers me but I'm not going to dwell on it.

People might go "adaptive learning" yadda yadda - but I'm saying Snow mode works properly and well straight up for general driving - without having to put up with any wait for the adaptive stuff to catch on...

I program the ECU in the Falcon myself - INCLUDING the transmission shift tables - so yeah I'm a bit picky in this respect...

Congratulations!

We have had ours since September last year and have about 12k on it now.

No issues to report, transmission is good.

Does the daily commute for Tam and also tows the TJ for trips away. Managed to get 13.5l/100km for the trip to Coffs at Easter too... towing the TJ

We have lots of Jeeps so we are well versed in the indicator and lack of footrest lol

Hope you Enjoy yours!

Dave

Thanks valpacer! - more encouraging info! and awesome pic

Looking at what I've said so far it almost looks like I don't like the TH... - but in fact nothing could be further from the truth - I absolutely love the thing!!

As a matter of interest I've just had one of those amazing Google Earth moments - if you go to street view at the Roadrunner Roadhouse in Cloncurry (search "27 McIlwraith Street" - searching for "Roadrunner Roadhouse" places you at the BP servo in town..) you'll see my wife driving our Falcon (turning into the roadhouse driveway) when we travelled across from Cairns in December!! I'm in a Meteor truck about 5 minutes behind (the google wagon joined from Winton direction ahead of me so I never got captured)...

Just another reassuring post for you Trailfirst. We don't have a Trailhawk but rather a diesel Limited, going in for its 6 month/10,000 service next week. Took delivery late last year and zero issues to date - transmission is great.

We also have an MY14 Grand Cherokee Overland and I prefer driving the KL weirdly enough (well my husband thinks it's weird) - he prefers driving the WK2.

Congratulations on the purchase. It's a fabulous vehicle.

Thanks SJetc - the reassurance is much appreciated!

My wife loves our TH at least as much as I do (gives her much appreciated street cred at school dropoff for a start) - and in fact she gets to drive it more on a day to day basis than I do - for work I use the work Hilux Ute (yuck!) or our Falcon.

She's nicknamed it The Beastie - our first Falcon was The Beast and our current Falcon is The Tank - and yeah, now the TH is The Beastie
