Default Wrangler JK Clear P0430 Code For Good

Hi all, I have a pretty frustrating issue with my engine light. I drive an 07 Wrangler JK Rubicon and have had this light on for a good year or two now. The code I keep receiving is P0430 Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2). At first I thought it was the 02 sensors so I had the front two replaced. After having the light return I went to Midas and had two spacers welded on the same front two sensors. This also did not work. At first I would get the light coming on and off at random times and staying off for days, weeks and even months at a time. However now the light is on constantly and when I clear it the light chimes back on but never straight away, it always takes 50-60kms exactly before it comes back on.

I have spoken with many mechanics and only recently to Midas and they have all told me not to worry about it as the car is running beautifully without a problem. Although this is the case I am looking to sell the car and do not want to have to explain this to the next buyer as an engine light is definitely not something they would want on their next car. If anybody with a similar problem could please help with any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Also, please let me know if there is someone you can recommend I take it to for a closer look as I've been to a few places already where people have just taken a blind stab and wanted to charge me a fortune.

You have several options :

1. replace the cat converter... its dead

2. go to someone who can dyno tune it ( not Jeep Service ) and has the correct software..... they will be able to stop the code bringing on the MIL. However the fault will still be logged in the ECU, so if a future roadworthy place plugs in a scan tool they will still see the logged error.

3. Investigate lambda sensor / o2 sensor simulators on the WWW.... some vehciles don't take a lot of fooling.

4. Ignore it..... but its a pita as it hides any other real codes that may need attention.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

MightyMouse would you happen to know anyone who is able to perform the dyno tune with the correct software?

Just replace the cat. It's not expensive to get one welded in. If you happened to have your exhaust tested you will fail and receive a canary
