Everybody knows, or should know, not to go to the stealers for spare parts.
Within 1 minute on Fleabay found one for $780 with free delivery. Search "jk alternator 2.8 jeep" and see what comes up. Europe has diesel jeeps so can get parts from o/s.
Have you tried the vendors on here?
Pay with paypal and your insured if you don't get it.
To the OP, hope it is just a bearing and it doesn't cost too much to fix.

About $10 for a bearing from a bearing service outlet and 1 hrs work, I know what I would try first.
It's funny how there seems to be more emphasis on the idler pulleys than the poor old alternator bearing which generally has a higher duty. This is even overlooked in the owners manuals.
Whenever I change the belt, I check the alternator bearing for movement as well and change it (or them) as required.
I have never had to replace an alternator on one of my own vehicles in my life, I have always found them to be repairable so far. Lucky they have not burnt out or the like on me.
Many types of alternators have repair kits available for them which includes more than the bearings.

If it is the bearing then just replace it. Any auto elec could probably change the bearing for you at a fraction of the price of a new alternator.

If it in the clutch pulley then you will not find a replacement anywhere that has the same offset. I have already been down this road.

If needed drop me a PM as I have a secondhand alternator for sale here in Melb. I replaced my alternator with new one early this year as I was lead to believe the clutch was failing and making a noise. Turns out is noise was my power steering pump bearing that failed and not the alternator at all. Nerveless, I now have a spare alternator and I am willing to part with it for the right price.

For what it's worth we had to get a replacement alternator 3 years ago, went directly to Denso who makes them and here in Australia they did not even have the model listed in their system so could not help with parts.

Ended up talking to Jeeepart Recyclers at Hervey Bay Qld and they had a secondhand one from a shorty that only had 33,000kms on it, got it for $450 delivered.

Chrysler offered me a new one for $2,100.
