Default 1k kms oil change - oem running in oil?

MY15 Wrangler 3.6 petrol - I want to replace the oil & oil filter at 1k kms on new motor to remove bedding-in contaminates but want clarify a) if it has running-in oil, if yes b) how long such oil should be used before replacing with normal oil.

Owners manual says
Quote:
"The engine oil installed in the engine at the factory is a high-quality energy conserving type lubricant."
Wondering if "energy conserving" is marketing speak or specifically infers special low viscosity (so-called running-in) oil for a new engine?

No one would know for sure, so I'd personally leave it in. I know Honda stress to leave the FF in the engine until the first service and state in the manual it is a special running in oil. My factory fill did 12,000kms and I sleep well

There is no 1000km required oil change anymore. In fact theu dont recommend changing oils, especially to synthetic, before the first routine oil change to allow the engine to completely bed in properly. Changing oil too soon and to synthetic will increase the bed in time dramatically to the point where some will never bed in properly and turn into high oil users.

Not saying I totally agree but this is what I have been told and I am not aware of any model requiring a 1000km oil any more.

Sent from a tiny mobile device with fat thumbs...
