is the short hose between the the airbox and throttle, as shown in above pic, the only part needed to start converting my '96 to the free-flowing setup?
while I can see that other mods to the upper & lower airbox will be needed to rectify the badly positioned front intake, am I correct in understanding dont need earlier airbox shell, just the hose atm?
If anyone has said part surplus, pls let me know

As can be seen on mine on the previous page this is the stock set up for an OBD1 ('94-'95), all just fits straight onto the OBD2, the fumes from the crankcase is drawn into the intake via the airbox, somewhere I have a pod filter setup for an Xj which has this connection in the tube after the pod filter....

I was wondering about this venturi. I recently saw a video on how 3rd world country's were recycling soft drink bottles to use for air conditioning. They would cut off the neck of the bottle and install a heap of them into a wall. Having the wind blow in the small hole and expand through the large hole, makes the air expand and therefore cooler. This a is a proven scientific principle. Not sure how effective it is.
But I wonder if the venturi works in a similar way. Or if something like the coke bottle could be applied to be used for the car? Small volume to big volume equals cooler air which is good for the efficiency
I'm not fixing it, I'm improving it!

It's all about flow. If a small pipe expands into a bigger pipe, air flow slows down and visa versa.
