Default XJ Diesel Injector pump info

I need to replace the O ring type seal between the pump head (the iron part on the end of the IP that the lines are attached to) & the pump body. For obvious reasons I dont want to remove the whole pump. Have looked at various diagrams & it looks doable.
Has any one resealed their IP? Not just the top seals.
If I remove the pump head will anything spring out ?
Will it just come out & then allow me to put it back in while in a horizontal position?
Thanks all.

Repair manuals for jeeps dont show anything about IP, just how to time. Found some other stuff on a site that looks like the head just comes out when the 4 bolts are removed. I wish I had pulled the spare IP I had to bits while I had it. Will probably experiment on the second jeep & see if it comes out easy.
