Default WG 2.7crd water pump help

Hi all.

After some help replacing the water pump in the wifes Diesel Grandy. For the life of me i cant work out how to get at the pump without basically pulling apart the front of the Jeep.

Any Assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't done a water pump yet but I can't see that it would be overly difficult. You may need to remove the power steering/hydraulic fan hoses to make access a little easier but I'd expect you could pull the pump reasonably easily once this is done.

Pulling the fan and the shroud will make life easier too but it isn't the easiest thing to remove. Pulling the the vacuum (may need to pull this to get the fan shroud out)and high pressure fuel pumps would make life easier too.

Should help you out, a lot of ginning around to get to it I think, just be careful of the fuel lines the connectors will be brittle.

Hey guys, just googled this thread and it didn't have the answer I needed...but I've just done my water pump so thought I might add to this post for future reference if someone is searching.

Remove Battery (to access power steering hose)
Remove Intercooler Hose (Passenger side)
Remove Top Radiator Hose (Passenger side)
Remove Power steering hose from the top of the pump
Disconnect electrical cable attached to fan shroud on drivers side
Remove fan shroud and place where battery was - leaving all other hoses connected.
Remove idler pulley (the one blocking access to the water pump - highest on drivers side)
Remove water pump & gasket

Reverse to fit it all back together.

Without mucking around too much - you probably want to allow 3-5 hours to get it out and in. The shroud is the worst bit as its a really tight squeeze to pull it out. You'll also need Coolant and Power Steering fluid (to top up) once done.

As luck has it I'm in the process of doing all of my idler pulleys and now the water pump. And while it isn't a comfortable job, you can pull the water pump off without having to do all of that.

If you remove the intercooler pipes, the idler pulleys and disconnect the mounting clips for the pipe heading to the viscous heater you can get in there an pull the pump easily. If needed disconnect the viscous heater to give you a little more room.

Once you get the pump it should be a 1-2 hour job tops, that is unless you find a heap of idler bearings that are rooted.

Where did you buy your pump from?
