Default Issue starting...

Hi,

Today I test drove my 2.7 CRD after suspension install.

Ran fine.

Let it set for a few hours, then drove it 1min down the road and decided to get a drive though coffee. The engine revved up 100-150rpm while stationary in Drive intermittently. I played around with putting it in Neutral and it stopped immediately. No engine light.

So I drove out through the car park and kind of lost revs as if it wanted to stall. Once I got out on the road it ran up to 60km no problem and did not have an issue since.

I come home and plugged in the elm-327 and showed not stored codes.

Its been starting fine but I have had the water in fuel light come on twice since owning.

Any thoughts on what's potentially going on?

Thanks

I'd expect some codes, try the three cycle trick to see if that produces some numbers.

To me it sounds like a full related issue, I'd expect to see a P1130 code at least.

Wouldnt fuel/pump/injector related issues be more noticable on start up?

Mine has no issues starting.

A bit of a guess, but passing a small air bubble out the rail could make it play up temporarily, then come good once it burped it out the return line.

So starts and runs like a champ.

At idle it will move up and down one increment of the Tacho. Kind of sounds like the AC kicking in as a change of tone is present when it does this.

Seems to splutter at low speed only and seems to be random when it does it.

The water in fuel light came on again this morning.

Ill change the fuel filter this weekend.

What syringe from supercheap is the one I need to vacuum the air from the bleed point?

Thanks,
Shane

Turns out the hunting at idle issue can be resolved by removing and cleaning the manifold air temp sensor.

I used MAF sensor cleaner as I had it on hand.

I made a kit based on this: https://www.4x4community.co.za/forum...735#post328735

For the pump, I used a $2 yum-cha squeeze-bulb pump off eBay. I didn't use the intercept jar, but rather just went directly to the bulb and use any container I can find to catch the output so I can dispose of it "responsibly"
