I called one of my local dealers and they said I had to wait for the letter to come through to even book for an inspection. Apparently they were unaware of the recall even being out. Surely that can't be right?

They may be simply encouraging you to call another dealer. The service department will get paid a flat fee by Chrysler Jeep for the inspection, and something if it has to be changed. It maybe that this work is not as lucrative as doing simple oil changes and this sort of work diverts resources.

Well I got my letter yesterday, so rang my local dealer today.

The letter clearly states the rear LCA will be replaced. The service advisor at my local tells me they will be inspected & if require replacing they will order the parts. I said that's not what the letter says, she says that's what weve been told this end.

On the phone to FCA right now, they confirmed the dealer is correct, replacement if required after inspection. its not a wholesale replacement program like the Front lower ball joints were back in 2006.

The two dealers I spoke to said they'd never heard of a LCA failing in Australia.

Hey Paul, Nice to see you still have the KJ.

I got my letters yesterday, one for the vehicle that was de-registered, wrecked and junked 6 years ago??? One for my current 2006 CRD. BUT. I wont be going in, I have already replaced my lower rear arms with upgrade rears for ID Parts.

Crikey ! only it's first 100k!, still they are a great vehicle, I had actually bought a JK unlimited CRD, but it's not really for me, I just prefer the size of the KJ, so that will hopefully be on the market soon.

My original 2004 V6 had a ECU fail, and I didn't want to spend 3300.00 dollars for another one, I bought the 2003 CRD Manual and never looked back, just swapped over all my mods. It was a fantastic KJ, just went and went, until a BMW ran a red light and smashed into me.

I managed to find a 2006 CRD Manual, and that has just had a heap of mods just done, and put in new bushes throughout , lots of my original bits off the first and second KJ's are now in the 3rd, . I also bought a timing belt kit, but when they got it all apart they said It already had a very new one in there, I had a look and agreed, I will let it go for another 50k then I'll get it changed, nice to have the parts waiting.

Good luck with the service, and enjoy the next 100k.
