I've been thinking similar, but am concerned about the compressor getting really hot under there... might need a fair bit of heat shielding and also will affect reliability/lifespan of the compressor i reckon.

I only put the auxiliary battery and compressor with its air tank in when I need them. The battery is in a battery box and has the Ctek D250S Dual bolted on top so I can charge it from the main battery of solar panels. It sits behind the rear seat in front of the fridge when I take it.
The compressor and air tank are in a ply box which goes either in the boot or behind a front seat in the foot well.
It saves me carting 50 or more kilos around when I don't need to.
Cheers

There's quite a bit of room under the rear of the car from memory. I bet a custom battery box could fit under there and/or water tank. Keep the weight low

Thanks for the many suggestions. I am thinking that a cargo barrier would be good for lashing my battery box and ARB compressor to whilst touring;then removing these when I just run around town. All that needs to stay in the car would be the frig slide;but that could come out easily too.

Good thinking, LKF. Fridge slides can actually be quite heavy, too.

I have a Kickass 120 ah slimline battery standing up behind the rear seat with a strap over it to the front tiedown points and a little tackle box with various plugs etc beside it, don't take up much room.
