Flushed it out on Saturday, and had an early flight / 4am drive this morning to the airport. Safe to say, working a hell of a lot better. I would not say perfect as passenger side is slightly warmer, but I did need to turn heater down which has not happened in years!
Still had a bit of a smell when first started, but went away. Back into Adelaide on Thursday, will see if the smell retains.
No coolant level loss that I can tell, these heater cores seem to have o-ring seals from main lines to core itself. Hoping it was just too much pressure when backed up.
All in all took well over 5 minutes
those spring clamps I hate with a passion. Not a lot of room up there, I ended up having to use a needle file to cut through them without damaging lines. A task I do not want to do again...
Flushed with Nulon radiator cleaner, let it sit at almost 100% concentration for ~5 minutes then flushed/diluted. Then siphoned back and fourth for 45mins, slowly. Flushed both directions with mains pressure. Lots and lots of small calcified particles came out, like sand.

These clamps can kiss my ass
