Engine noise
I have a question for Clarky. I see you use AW10 in your engine, do you also put it in your transmission?. I have a 2007 Commander I bought in 2010 and it has developed a very slight engine rattle at 1500 - 2000 rpm only under load and only when it is warmed up. If it was a petrol I would say it sounds like ignition rattle. I bought the vehicle primarily to tow a large caravan , which it does with ease and has only now got 109,000klms on it. The first owner fitted a 3in exhaust and a DP chip and I have added King Springs, catch tank and air bags in the rear. I have done most of the maintenance on it myself, oil changes, front diff mounts and transmission fluid change and inductor plate. Just wondering if a little AW10 might stop the noise.
Regards Bryan.

No I haven't used it in my transmission, just me but I don't put it anywhere that has clutch packs ie: diff's, transfer case and auto's.
They say you can but just not convinced.
Check your belt & pulley's, possibly pulley tensioner.
I know of one Grand CRD that had what sounded like a timing chain rattle that AW10 sorted out.

Thanks Clarky and Steve,
The noise has been there for some months now, it doesn't affect performance at all and is there whether I am towing or not. It is so faint that a passenger would probably not notice it. I spent most of my working life in the interstate transport industry and you quickly pick up strange noises. Thanks for the tip on the belt tensioner. I have replaced the belt some time ago, so I may look at replacing the tensioner and the 2 pulleys. Thanks for the AW10 offer Steve but I live on the Gold Coast.
Regards Bryan.
