I read WK2 info on here and on other Jeep forums and I honestly hadn't come across it, at least it wasn't highlighted as a problem and I think this same issue would appear on many other vehicles.

I would reckon very low incidents on many things. One matter with early Jeeps was the software update and switch from 5-30 to 5-40 oil. Bottom line is those two changes are designed to additionally protect the bottom end from scoring and potential seizure on the Big end etc. . Mostly from USA trucks but only a handful of incidents just spoken of in Australia perhaps if at all. So when we talk about these things it must be placed in context. Who remembers that pic of the blown out transfer case. So they are not faults but letting you know what to look for if your keeping it up into the 250k range.

I would have gone to a 40 oil anyway as I really believe 30 is too low for our mean temp range and the 20 and 30 grades are more for getting good fuel figures than anything else.. bit like the long service intervals, keep the servicing cost down .
