Thanks Hoppy99..I see what you mean...Chief took a long time developing and testing before release so if you haven't done so maybe send a query plus photos to them and ask what's going on..might mean some free spacers at least...I have a 2017 Trailhawk as well and I need to carry a tinnie on top so watching this very closely.

Do you know which Rola Rack you are using and it's dimensions? I'm loading 5m kayaks and want to spread the load as much as possible( both on the boats and the roof) and run them up the back on a roller. Currently using a Yakima showboat to do the rolling and Rola Cradles on normal roof bars so probably pushing the 68Kg limit but don't usually carry them off-road for long periods. Would like to have more breathing space, awning, max traxs and shovel.

The Rola I have is 1200x1200, cost me $500 so I really want to use it to save money. I also email Chief Products about my installation experience and pointed them to this forum.

Thanks Hoppy, I was hoping to go a bit longer, around 1800 but that will mean some overhang at the front and I haven't seen a rola titan rack yet to see if the chief rails would support that amount of over hang.

Still thinking

My rola titan is not very big, the Chief rails will take probably 1800 length. Just have a look at their website and see how long the Chief platform is.....

So I have been talking to Ben at Chief Products, he’s been pretty helpful and I think I’ve got it all set up now.

I have worked out that you really need some planks (as chief call them) which pulls the whole thing together. I loosened all the bolts on the cross rails, installed the two chief planks and then tightened it all up.

It’s important to do this and start tightening the screws in the roof first, then he plank screws and after that all the bolts in the rails.

From my experience if you just try to install rails only they just dont sit right until there is a platform or planks installed at the same time. I didnt need the spacers when done this way.

Looks good, would of your rola rack done the same as the planks? but maybe a plank at the front and back is not a bad thing and then put the rola rack on top. I don't think the planks are wide enough for my application.
