I have a genuine factory fitted jeep towbar on my xj and its rated at 2500kg clearly stamped on the plate which is on the towbar box steel section just under the rear bumper.

It would seem that the genuine towbars are like the rest of the car all different as the two that I have are rated different to each other, 1 is 2500kgs with a ball load of 125kgs and the other 1 is 2270kgs but the ball load is 114kgs even though the part numbers are the same.....

Default Tow weights

I know its an old thread but my bar (Parkside Manufacturing WA) is rated 2250kg and 150kg ball weight, have another genuine jeep one which is 2500kg and 125kg ball weight, go figure.
Towed a 18' 6" tandem axle Windsor poptop Perth, Sydney, Alice back to perth and averaged 20/100km, pretty happy with the way it towed and that was in third 90% of the time.
