Default Sydney/NSW - 2016 GC Limited Petrol Servicing and Other Q’s

Good day Jeepsters,

1st time posting on this site and was looking for recommendations on below items:

1/ Servicing (exc. dealer service centres): any automotive businesses for regular service that are reliable, trusted and fair pricing?
Avg annual k’s I do: 8000km in city driving

2/ Is ECU tuning recommended? To improve power, fuel, overall running of the motor.

3/ Since purchase Jeep Dealer hasn’t updated the uconnect as no updates available like the maps, last service quoted $700 - hmmm rather get Tom Tom. Any recommendations if this system should be updated?

4/ Petrol: I put 91 where ever I can to get the lowest price, does Petrol brand station make a difference? Does price indicate quality of the petrol? Few hundred meters diff of 10cents is huge as an example. Also is it better to use say 95?

5/ How do I know or find out if my GC limited is WK2 or other?

6/ Any known issues with these models you may be aware of?

Will post other Q’s or recommendations another time, considering side steps, wind shields and possibly tow bar (though unlikely I’ll tow anything, just to have).

Cheers,
Mick747

Hi Mick,

If you are happy to travel to Wyong. Shents are a Jeep specialist and are great to deal with. https://www.shents.com.au/

Before you look at ECU tuning, buy yourself an iDrive throttle controller. They are around $245 and you'll be very surprised at what a difference they make to the Cherokee.

I could be wrong here but there has been no map updates since 2016. I'm sure someone on here will have better knowledge than I. I don't find the lack of map updates an issue, I'm happy with mine.

Petrol brand makes no difference. 91 is fine for the petrol model however, I'd recommend running at tank of 95 / 98 through it once every couple of months.

2011+ WK2

As for issues, not really, there has been a few recalls for the WK2 so just make sure these are up to date.
