That's why I just sucked it out.

I'm thinking of ways to clean the intercooler in situ:
1/ Disconnect the hoses
2/ Pour in a litre or two of petrol
3/ Slosh it about with pulses of compressed air into the connections
4/ Suck out as much as possible with the venturi pump
5/ Blow air through it for 15 minutes to evaporate the residue

What could possibly go wrong with blowing petrol vapour all around the engine bay? Perhaps step zero should be disconnect the battery and have a ventilation fan running?

I though it might be PCV related and I was considering a catch can. I'll try to find JeanLuke's install.

There's a small gizmo between the aircleaner housing and the wing which I think is part of the EGR/PCV system. It buzzes quite loudly for quite a while when the engine is turned off. It sounds like it's sucking air in (should it be that loud?). Does this indicate a partial blockage somewhere?

I need to get a hold of a 2.7 CRD specific parts list/diagram so I know what I'm looking at. The only ones I can find are for the V8 & I6 models.

Is there any cleaning I can do without major stripdown?

That's the turbo vane control vacuum solenoid. It's normal for it to buzz for a minute or so after shutdown.

Or you could just leave it there and it'll be some uper cylinder lube until it's blown through

Out of curiosity what volume of oli to do exteract?

I didn't measure it. My venturi pump is an air blower gun with a venturi multiplier in it. I shove a PCV hose in the intake and it become a sucker. It blew the oil all over the ground for me to later hit with degreaser. Needless to say, my driveway concrete is well sealed so the mess was gone before the other half saw it.

Well I pulled off both hoses to & from the intercooler. The one from the turbo was a bit dirty inside but not as bad as I expected. There was very little
evidence of oil.

On the other side I expected the oily hose to be minging with oil but it was bone dry inside! The oil must be coming from an external source but the whole top of the engine is dry.

I've just identified the 'gizmo' as the 'Vacuum Pressure Converter Valve Regulator'. The buzzing seems a bit excessive - there's a small filter in an inaccessable position below the valve & aire filter housing. If this was blocked would this account for the buzz? There's some Russian videos showing the valve dismantled with a plastic or rubber diaphram inside. Could this be leaking?
