Default W47 Recall

I have just received a notice from FCA for a safety recall on the power transfer unit which may allow relative movement between differential output splines and transmission output shaft, which may cause the teeth of the input splines wearing off and subsequent loss of engagement between the transmission and the diff inside the PTU causing the loss of motive power while in motion and loss of park function while stationery. The fix is a reprogram the drive train control module and the electric park brake. I wonder that if this is a problem, how much wear has already taken place and am I looking at shortened life of the transmission.I hope that the reprogram is better than the last transmission update where it hangs on in first to over 3000rpm before changing up. Does anybody have any information on this recall from other sites.

Has anyone had this done yet? - does the reflash improve earlier models trans shifting??

EDIT: Had W47 Recall carried out on Thursday (Dec 10th) - and we now have a lovely shifting TH Can feel it shifting down thru 2nd when slowing - ie. the previous horrible R02 / removed 3-2-1 shift program is GONE - we can clearly feel the 2nd gear downshift. General shifting is much nicer too - it just shifts to what you need right as you're thinking it instead of being notchy.

For a few months the not-quite-stopped-then-go-again snatch and grab was gone as well but thats crept back in! I'm pretty sure we now have the current normal shift program - but altho initially gone, the hesitation in trans driving if you coast almost but not quite completely to a stop has come back - which is a bugger because it makes you either seem like a nanny when you have to feel carefully for it to take off again - or you gotta drive a bit sporty - ie. rush up to corners / intersections to do jiffy full stop-and-go without holding everyone up.

The Sprint Booster has been a huge help with that no drive situation - ie. the more direct pedal response makes finding drive much quicker / easier if you have ur wits about you.

Even driving just in D on hilly / windy road is fantastic - the trans shifts to the correct gear at the correct time - downshifts are spot on and smooth instead of needing quite heavy accelerator with late / harsh downshift and zoom - and it even seems to have much improved engine braking in all gears. We drove up the Gillies Range - a regular drive for us - and where I'm constantly messing with the ERS etc. it was a dream drive just in D - smooth slick and quick - and coming down I did use the ERS but pretty much just left it in 4th with occasional 3rd - and used the brakes a LOT less than normal.

It's only taken FIVE FREAKIN YEARS to finally have proper transmission shifting...

For Info: Improved PTU that isn't subject to this issue is P/N 68307403AG

I had it done back in early August.

I didn't notice any difference to the trans shifting, although I was happy with the trans shifting in my MY15 TH b4 the update.

However, I have just had a major issue with the trans control unit which I doubt is related to the update, because it happened a couple of thousand kms later:
