Default EGR flap position?

Hi,
2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee crd went into limp mode with the "lightning bolt" light on right hand side of dash and engine light on.
I was aware of what the problem might be as i have an '06 Chrysler 300c with the same motor and as the Jeeps the wifes car I needed to fix it asap.
Did the swirl motor fix using the right resistor and the "lightning bolt" went out but the engine light is still on.
While the jeep now runs, it has lost the off the line acceleration it had meaning she has to wait for a bigger gap in traffic before entering a roundabout, half way around it seems to get the acceleration it needs.

Was the first trip of the day in the afternoon on a warm day and she only got a few hundred metres before it went into limp mode so I'm not sure where the flaps on the EGR would be, and not sure if this causes the loss of off the line acceleration.

I should point out here that when i got home from work and was faced with the problem, i did a quick check online and did the "turn ignition on, hold accelerator down for 5 secs, repeat, repeat" until the EGR light went out. took it for a spin up the road and it took off like a scalded cat, which is what we expect, turned into a court and came back and on the way it went into limp mode again.

It's only done 225,000k, 25 of those in the 3.5 years we've had it. Mostly local driving to and from work, but we use it to tow the caravan.

Have i missed something, the resistor wasn't exactly a tight fit but I'm guessing it's working as the lights out. Do I need to reset the computer by removing the battery terminal or something as I've not seen anyone else complain of this after doing the resistor trick.

Cheers

If its a 2006 then wrong section of the forum as this is the WK2 group BUT with the EGR delete done at that mileage it could be more than a dicky flap, did you try cleaning the MAP sensor might give a better result...........

Never known the swirl to fail in any other position open

Check the turbo actuator, can cause the same "lightning bolt" symptom and is becoming a more common issue.

P/S I moved this thread to the WH section

Thanks to owning a 300c with the same motor I've been down the turbo actuator path, only with the 300c it would drive ok and cough splutter when you put the boot in.
Having said that I understand where you are coming from, and i guess the easiest way to answer the question is to swap the Jeeps for the 300's this weekend and see what happens.
I had the 300's repaired/replaced a few years back by Turbo Developments in the UK but understand there's someone in Australia now who can replace/repair.
Forgive me for saying, but in hindsight we wish both cars had the Hemi V8's in them as they would handle the low k's we do better I think.

Thanks for reminding me about the actuator.
