Default Question on wiring a towbar harness in a 2014 WK2 Grand Cherokee

Hi all, new to this forum (and Jeeps). Just replacing my 2012 Pajero diesel with a WK V8.

I have a question on wiring a towbar harness in a 2014 WK2 Grand Cherokee V8.

I have a complete universal trailer harness with the special box and it has a trailer 7 pin plug one end and the 5 wires to pickup the lights. There are also a separate red and white wire coming out of the box which I am not sure what to do with so I need help or maybe a generic wiring harness if anyone has one? I'm hoping the red one is power and the white one is earth for the converter box? I saw a video of a plug and play one and it still needed these two wires connected? The U-Haul wiring video showed him running this power wire all the way to the battery which seems stupid. I would have thought you would just pick up an accessory wire at the back, maybe the boot accessory plug so it's only powered when the ignition is on?

Hope someone can help.

BTW, love the sound of the V8 over my old Pajero diesel. Only had it a week and had the suitcase replaced today by my exhaust guy to hear the exhaust note better out of the Corsa rear mufflers. Now it sound like the V8 jeep I heard a coupe of months ago at the shops that convinced me I'm a V8 man through and through.

Have a look at this tread it should help you.

I have a 2014 JGC and wired my trailer plug from the lights as it does not have the plug inside the panel.

I have no issues with my camper trailer all lights work as the CT has leds as well.
