Default JK Door lock Question

Got a 2007 built 2.8CRD Sahara
Remote locking working OK, use it all the time, but when I try to lock the door just using the key turning to left it wont budge.
Can unlock the door, with the key OK, turning clockwise (that's previously been locked with the remote), which then obviously sets off the alarm.
I just cant remember back if locking via key only was ever possible, or will it need to be fixed Does anyone else have this problem (if it is one) ?
Or is there a procedure to lock the doors without setting the alarm ?
Lock on tailgate can be locked & unlocked with key OK.

Was /is possible to lock doors of JK only with the key. Remote also. If u have movement of key one way but not the other, it is possible that there is crap inside the lock itself preventing movement in that direction.

The alarm should not go off when locking/opening the doors with key fob or key. Sounds like a short somewhere perhaps. Try cleaning the lock by blowing out with compressed air and compressed alcohol solution that u can buy from Bunnings or Jaycar. If this doesn't work, eyeball the lock by removing door panels etc and giving it a good blow out then.

dont think that the alarm should go off iff you unlock the door with the correctly matched key... that's the point of the matching key. Sometimes if u use anon genuine key fob, this might happen.

Have fun... sounds like a gremlin somewhere.

Go on Youtube etc and find out how to disable the alarm....

Wait... There's a factory alarm!? My '08 3.8 never seems to have had one.

I am pretty sure that the JK 07 did have an alarm... horn sounding plus flashing indicators if door not opened with fob or correct key. BUT after the first service the dealers cancelled it all out.... I think the thing in US is have an alarm for everything. Not that popular here then, although it ought 2 B. I might b wrong, but fairly sure.

If u press fob, the car lights come on so that u can see where the vehicle is ... just in case u have forgotten where it has been parked.

"The alarm should not go off when locking/opening the doors with key fob or key. Sounds like a short somewhere perhaps."

If I lock the doors using the remote key fob button, then unlock manually just using the key by turning clockwise, then open the door the alarm goes off, which I then cancel with the button on the key fob.
(Genuine matched key UK spec.)

Will try giving a good clean as you say
