Hey lads,

Mine has just started to do this Transfer Case Switch error as well however it doesn't seem to affect the transmission performance at all. I will be replacing using SMP brand as I've had good success with their parts on my V8 WJ.

Joerg, as for the shifting issues all I can recommend is to check the fluid levels properly with a 722.6 dipstick (Transmission must be at 75-80deg Celsius - use WJ DIAG PRO to verify trans temp, cycle through the gears P-R-N-D and back again slowly and check fluid when vehicle is in Park and running.)

Also check the yellow gearbox plug for oil wicking up the wiring and ensure plug isn't leaking- of it is buy a genuine new one and reinstall. Make sure you don't overtighten small inside screw past 5nm- very common problem and easy fix)

Often my trans issues have been the result of incorrect fluid levels / small water ingress in trans or else the plug issue. Fixed them by changing fluid and filter and performing flush on trans.

Hope I didn't give you info you already know 😚🤙

Thanks for the infos. I have just recently made sure that my transmission fluid is up to the point, so I think I can cross this out.
I have a minor leak on one of the hose connectors but it would not be enough to cause any low fluid issues.

The problem i face is, that it is only showing up once in a while. I had it now about 4 times or so the last 4 weeks. I dont even know what might trigger it and once I shut down the engine entirely and re-start, it all back to normal.

Where did you get the SMP sensor from, Rockauto? I've looked around an I can only get the Dorman or Mopar. I have a NP242 transfer case lying around which I wanted to install sooner or later. It has the sensor also installed, not sure if this one works though.
