I was seriously considering buying a new Everest, but this might just change my mind.
So after my enquires today I have decided it’s not really worth the money.
I asked a few questions about some issues that were raised here on the forum.

*The extended warranty only covers mechanical and electrical parts that have failed, nothing else.
*Importantly, mechanical does not include replacement of failed hoses attached to the engine or anywhere else for that matter.
*The condition in the PDS about no coverage for overheating damage is a very grey area because the onus is on me to prove that I stopped driving when I was aware of the overheating. (The salesman agreed with this)
*No oils or fluids are included.
*Servicing must be done on time but some flexibility is allowed, ie a month late but this is not written anywhere.
*The extended warranty was offered by a large dealer network (their financial arm).
The killer for me was the hoses not being covered because as we all know when a hose goes it can cause a lot of damage, especially in the heat and in the middle of nowhere. When I raised this hose point he started to wind up the conversation, saying if I see value get it if not….. we’ll you get the idea.

I will keep my out of warranty GC Trailhawk till next year and decided then if I sell or not when my ordered Everest is due.

If your still chasing an extended warranty to keep your trailhawk...the Presidian product mentioned earlier has a 'good' rep...as far as 'extended warranties' go...no I havent had one...yes I have heard multiple 'good' reports prior to this thread...ie: Fleet owners in a 'past life' it seems nowadays
ps: was also offered with 'salary sacrafice' Lease vehicles...didnt hear any complaints...and believe me in the Industry Im talking about, if ANYBODY was gonna complain they were...the saying...'You cant put brains in a statue' Im sure was written based on those 'operators'....jus sayin

An actual FCA/Stellantis extended warranty I would go for but not a dealer network one, no matter what it said I would steer clear myself just for the reason I travel a lot and imagine once I was out of the area I would be on my pat malone, regular looks under the bonnet and a tyre kick sort of thing once a week seems to be the way to keep any dramas at bay as at servicing they do the job and thats about all..

I think you may find the Grand Cherokee may mean the Everest won't meet expectations, I know I felt that when I jumped in son in laws Ranger, I thought what a clunker of a gearbox, the V6 and 8 speed has ruined things for me now.

Agree with that mate....offered up the warranty provider I suggested as they DONT specify a 'brand' specific repairer....
As fas as attempting to emulate the 'benefits' of our brand choice with a Ford anything...sorry...wont happen....the 'mockers/haters' can say what they want...we(well I did)made an 'unbiased' choice which didnt include input from 'advertising'(read: bs)....the other options have just as many..if not more...issue, then our brand owners...Numbef 1...I have never near 'knocked myself out' on the A-pillar getting into, or out of, my JGC....no 'pygmy contortionist' position needed to enter or exit vehicle from drivers OR passengers sides...ANYBODY in the 6 foot region KNOWS what Im saying

The Extended warranty offered by Presidian in part has the following wording;

"This Warranty Contract covers the repair or replacement of
failed mechanical and electrical components which would
have been covered by the original Manufacturer’s Warranty,
as specified in the Manufacturer’s Warranty book, unless
noted as an Exclusion in this Warranty"
(Exclusions are similar to New Car Warranty exclusions. Expected exclusions also such as replacement of items that are consummable, such as hoses, exhaust systems, airbags (internal), trim, glass, mirrors,etc)

Exclusion: "Negligence - any failure caused by negligence or misuse including:
any Mechanical Failure due to a lack of coolant, loss of lubricant,
restricted oil pickup, excessive use of oil, or overheating;"

Allowing low coolant would be classed as "negligent", as would very low oil level. Damage to an engine caused by overheating due to a blown radiator hose for example though could be covered under this Warranty. Given the above wording, and the compliance with the requirement to have the vehicle serviced and inspected by a mechanical workshop per manufacturers spec, it would not be considered "negligent" to have a hose fail given a person would also carry out regular inspections of coolant levels and hose conditions anyway.
That said, a normal person would be aware of a failed hose or a potential loss of coolant anyway due to a rising engine temperature.

"You will be required to contribute to the cost of coolants,
lubricants and machining, unless the replacement of
coolants, lubricants and machining is required as part of the
repair or replacement of a Covered Component."

"You, or any other person in control of
the Vehicle, must take all reasonable precaution to minimise
damage to the Vehicle and/or the Vehicle’s components/parts
when you or they suspect a Mechanical Failure may have
developed."

So if you became aware of something that was not right, you wouldn't just keep driving. If it was necessary to keep driving for what ever reason, then one would certainly "minimise" the damage by driving as short a distance as possible.
