Dragging up this old thread as I've finally got my shit together - booked in for a full service incl. transmission in a few weeks time.

Managed to get 9L of genuine ZF Lifeguard 8 for $430 and a genuine ZF pan for $319. An expensive exercise, but ZF have proven they know what they're doing and it's a bit of peace of mind so I'm happy to spend a bit of extra coin as opposed to Penrite fluid and third party pan.

Funnily enough, the strange stutter I was experiencing seems a lot less pronounced recently...

Did you get the actual ZF 8HP70 Chrysler Pan, the one thats deeper ??? my list shows ZF #1087.298.361, only ask as I'm unsure if the deep pan is what I have in my ZF catalogue...

Thats a hell of a lot of coin though just for parts, Gympie Auto quoted me $650 using Lifegard 8 and a ZF pan though I was unsure if it was a BMW shallow pan, I ended up doing it myself again... the pan I get is a deep job and they work..

I hope it's the right pan! Bloody confusing though... it replaces Mopar part number 68225344AA (the deep pan); the ZF part number I got is 1087.298.437 so one of us is wrong unfortunately...
Edit: with a bit of googling, it looks like we could both be right? Crickey! Might have to do some more digging

Yeah, a hell of a lot, but as I said it's peace of mind I know that the right gear is being used. From other quotes I've seen thrown around, the $7-800 for genuine ZF parts is on the money. Did a hell of a lot of scouring around the internet to try find a better deal, but to no avail.

Okay it looks like both part numbers are correct. I recall reading that ZF are manufacturing these pans in two separate locations, which could be the reason behind the two part numbers. Phew!

My old one would do that from time to time...like a little hesitation. Never worried about it as it was intermittent and got no worse or better...

Yeah the issue is that it isn't really a hesitation from standstill, it's while you're already moving at a decent pace - around 2500rpm in 2nd so ~30km/h I think? The thing that gets me is that you can hear it dump boost when it loses power

Same thing...I would hear a strange noise through the snorkel when it did it...like a snort if you like, then was ok. It didn't always do it, just started to do it now and again out of the blue one day.
