Default Which AT Tires

I have recently put Cooper AT on my XJ (Standard rims and tire sizes). In the short time that I have had them on I am more than pleased with their on road performance. Quiet on road as well.
Haven't had them off road so I cant comment on that aspect.

Cheers

Just fitted a set of 30x9.5 BFG A/T's to the missus XJ.....
My second choice would have been the Cooper S/T - but price just wasn't as sharp as the BFG....Since fitting we've done about 2000km and loads of dirt roads & often towing trailers etc.....So far I can not fault this tyre & I'm extremely happy with this selection.
I've perviously had Yokohamas - and would NEVER run them again on a 4x4.....
Perrelli - only observed them in action - but watched carefully a few times - far from impressed when offroad.
Wrangler - IMHO the ONLY decent wrangler tyre is the MT/R - the rest are really just H/T's and I would not buy them...
Just my 2¢.....HTH...

I too fitted 30x9.5 BFG A/T's and am extremely happy. Have done just over 3500 kms and they still look and drive great.

Had them off road and have performed better than the Mud tyres I had on last.

A bit noisy on the road, but nothing to complain about.

Good tyre.

troyster - I've had both STs and BFG ATs on my Grand. My pref is for the STs. I found the BFG to be a softer tyre than the ST and didn't seem to corner as well. I also think the ST is a more agressive tyre for off roading. The Cooper AT is a less aggressive AT than the BFG. I have no issue with the ST noise, and as Grant said, windows and radios >>> what noise? Bottom line, both very good, both market leaders - you really won't go wrong with either.

Thanks for the replies.

The comments I made on the BFG were based on a Tyrepower dealer who had found that the tyres were difficult to balance and once they were balanced the balance change requiring rebalancing (I think that makes sense )

The biggest problem that I face with the KJ is the tyre size. According to sources in the US, the largest tyre that can be fitted without rubbing is a 245/70/16 (BFG AT 29.6") which unfortunately is a size that the S/T's are not available in. They do make a P255/70/16 (not LT) which is just on 30"OD. CJBRAD ran with 245/75/16 (30.6") for awhile with fairly minimal rubbing.

Anybody know of anyone running this size tyre or has any opinion on whether it would fit?? (I'm prepared to get the heat gun out but not the grinder)
