Default Keyless Entry Replacement

Go to this link http://www.thejeep.com/piland.html if your old remote only works when it wants too. The new one works better and from some distance away, unlike the the old one that worked after I was in the cab. These ones are better made and I think look better. They're still IR so you still must point at the reciever but only in the general direction. I like it so much I'll get another for the spare keys. Dan at Turner 4wheel drive was great and worked out all the pricing: $127.00 AU delivered.

Caution here.....Jeep remotes are supposed to only work when you are around 4-5 metres from the vehicle, the remote also requires 'line of sight' to the sensor..its got nothing to do with the age of the remote.
This is a security feature aimed at not making life easy for car thiefs...if a set of keys is found with the Chrysler or Jeep insignia it would be a simple matter of pointing it in their general direction in the shopping centre carpark...many a Holden and Falcon have dissapeared this way!.
If yours is acting up its probably due to one of two things, batteries getting down, CR1616's x 2, about $5, or there could be an intermittent fault internally, really quite easy to fix, check out my website... http://www.users.bigpond.com/pfgreig/

Default Remote Keyless Entry

This is a very timely thread for me. My keyless entry pad has started playing up in the last week. Has become very tempremental, thought it was the batteries so I had them replaced ($20), but still a not opening all the time when I press the unlock button. I was going to go to Jeep to get them to replace it. Is that the best way to go or should I look at the alternative above and if I do, do I have to take the car in to get it all set up?

My remote pad pic is attached.

Thanks grant

I may give that a go as a last resort. I'll have to cross my fingers with my soldering skills.
