it didn't sell again...not posted at the moment, but the reserve was still not met with a $15K bid. Before I left the States I sold my very nice (stock) 99 WJ Limited for US$13K
Although I had owned it for over 12 months (which is where the tax hit comes down too) enquiries (mainly on this forum) made me decide to sell it and buy again here because to do a RHD conversion was going to be nearly AU$20K...plus the tax (which I think is only about GST if you've owned it for over a year). Freight was nothing fo rme because I had a contianer coming back...and all of this I still chose to sell and buy again.
If he gets his US$20K then today that's still over $28K Aussie...which sounds good for the mods etc., but the freight, the tax, the conversion (if you wanted to) so this take it up to probably $50K to $60K which really make's Bill's point valid...you wouldn't have a huge amount of dollars different by buying here and starting again...
...actually if you go to the auctions down here in Melbourne shortly you should be able to pick up a good buy White 99 V8 WJ with Quadradrive...the electric may not be the driest, but if you wanted to do these types of mods to it, it would be worth replacing all the electics anyway
