ELITE ~ A Classic (Best Game ever written?) - AUSJEEPOFFROAD.COM

OK you gaming heads –

Hic is a closet gamer, and is a 1st person shooter fan, not normally over the net but single player campaigns. Do have ADSL (currently tested @ 220apx Kilobits per second) so can engage in counter strike and the like.

• Doom
• Doom 2
• Half Life
• HALO
• Doom 3
• Now Half Life two – still going

BUT ~ in the olden days the day of computer giants such and the /VIC-2O and COMODORE64 I played a free roaming space trading game called Elite ~ to date I still think is is the best computer game I have played.

QUESTION to the gamers, is there a space trading game (current generation) that is similar in nature. It has always mystified me why somebody has not authored something similar. Would be great on line.

I fully agree with you m8!!!!!! ELITE was worlds ahead of it's time.

Also if you search a few of the overseas web site you will find old copies of ELITE II and TRADER which were the follow ups to the orginal.

Elite was awesome,many times the sun came up whilst I was playing it and a day of sleep at school was ahead

The old Cobra MkIII,the space pirates,the Thargoids etc etc....

Yeah, another vote for Freelancer. Its the closest but not as good IMHO. Privateer is another but I never really played it.

Elite 4 is the one to wait for, but it has been in the pipeline for so long now. Latest update is that it will be released late this year.

Who else used to print out price sheets to record each planets prices and make buckets of profit

Finished Halo on my holiday - very cool (even funnier after being an addicted Red vs Blue fan). Finished HL2 a while back. Very cool but a bit too easy. Now just shoosting up workmates and with AJOR clanners occasionally in Camperstrike Source.
