Default Diff Question????

Do i need new carriers to run a 4.56 ring and pinion or can i use the OEM ones???? Running standard 3.07 at the moment

4.56 you need new carriers i think.

I think there are now thick cut 4.11's that you don't need new carriers for.

definitely need new carriers (about $200 new). Think about putting lockers in at the same time as the regearing as they will act as the carriers for you

i have a brand new carrier (still in plastic) for a D30 for 4.11 and up. $160 if ya interested.

Most folks will agree on this one, when changing gears spend the $$ and get the lockers done as well, otherwise you are just spending money on double handling. When doing so choose your gear ratios carefully as you can start chewing more fuel than you need to on the highway by getting too low of a ratio. With Jammy also you need new carriers that is why everyone locks their differentials.

Just one word of advice on the detroits - I have run them for 80000kms, and they are great - but I do regret that I didn't buy a locker for the rear (at least) that can be locked/unlocked manually. If you do a lot of kms, it would really be a lot better (in my humble opinion) to go for an air locker (or similar) for the rear.
