No, the problem is the tyre rubing on the strut, there seems heaps of room in the wheel arch, more so since I've had my 50 mm lift. Also if I go higher there is a bolt that comes down and will hit the top of the tyre if that make sence. I have standard rims. I've been told that off set rims throws off everything ie mud, rocks and grim past your mud flaps and stuffs up your paint work down the side of your car.

I get the new ATR255x65x17's fitted tomorrow. I'll take some digital photos and post them for your interest.

Id like the ST's but I do too much highway work thus settling for the ATR's have heard ST's are bloody noisy.
Thanks for the feed back guys.

Also got a new front bash plate made up to replace to crap plastic one. 6mm thick should do the trick!

I'll post some photos this weekend.

Jenko - did you get the Mopar bash plate, or a custom job? Got some photos? Thanks in advance.

Jenko I keep reading your posts and I'm confused about what you say won't fit and why. On the one hand you say it's tyre width which is the issue but then you go up a width size. I know every tyre is different but 245 is the width of the tread so in theory a 245/65 is the same width as 245/70 and 245/75, the only thing changing is the size of the sidewall and therefore the height (not width) of the tyre.

If the issue is room at the top then it's not width but width at a particular height in which case (in theory at least) unless you changed the width or the struts are angled (ie get closer to the tyre the higher up the strut you go) and (on the Commander at least) this is not the case. The problem is a height / width one and not width alone. In theory therefore you could go narrower and taller but not taller and the same width or taller and wider.

AFAIK the issue the is the bottom of the strut bolt, which can be shortened if required (and has been by at least one MJOC member) by cutting / grinding back part of the square end of the bolt. See, Moses was right after all .

Just a minor point - although the WH/XH does indeed have a 'strut', it's not a MacPherson Strut.
In a MacStrut, the lower pick-up point of the strut also doubles as the upper link. It's a low-cost, space-saving set-up that's ideal for front-wheel-drive small cars. Bad points of a MacStrut are that it doesn't have great geometry control or travel.
The WH/XH ( also KJ, KA and KK ) have a variation of the classic double wishbone design, sometimes called a SLAS ( Short and Long Arm with Spindle ). Far, far more sophisticated than a MacStrut.

What Salesguy says is not only correct but the cause of no after market lift kits that are spring / shocker based - no one has done a front strut as yet although the Rancho RSX strut is due out any day now.

Salesguy, I keep getting told that the XH and WH are not the same front strut, can you confirm this ie when the Rancho strut arrives will it suit only the (stated) WH or should it suit the XH as well?
