Default removing engine trans and all

Hello again
I am about to remove the engine and auto from one xj to go into a donor xj.
This is my first time and I am wanting as much advise as I can get.
From my searches I have found I will better of with a level on the crane and removing the whole front of the car.
Is it possible to leave the manifolds conected ?
Can the transfer be left on with the auto and engine?
Cheers

would make it a lot heavier if you left it on. i would pull the tranfer and auto off then crane the motor out.

Make sure you undo the top bellhousing bolts FIRST. Will strip their funny heads otherwise if undone last.

ive done a few jeep motors lately
definitely take the front off and yeh i would disconnect the trans and transfer because you can do it connected but its a pain in the ass. We get the required height pulling them out together because we use a forklift to pull them out, otherwise it will be too ass heavy using an engine crane. The top bellhousing bolts are a royal pain in the ass because they always seem to be damn tight. definitely do them first.

manifolds arent a problem and ive found that if you take the motor out with the mounts attached you can slide it forwards. All the accessories can stay on no problems and depending on how much time I have, the loom comes out with it as well.
