Default Tyre Recommendation

OK I've just moved and my job has taken me to far west QLD and i'm up for some new tyres for the TJ. I am currently running MTR's but blew one on the 1,700 km trip over (probably a warrantly issue as it seems to be sidewall seperation but thats another story).

anyway i'm looking for some recommendations for tyres running on sand, gravel and rock. If anyones done the simpson desert crossing or been to birsdville you will know what terrain i'm talking about - lots of sand.

Most work vehicles run bridgestone AT's - haven't spotted many MT's on vehciles execpt for tourists.

any recommendations would be welcomed

I find my Cooper STT's awesome on sand and rock... Can't fault them at all!

and they are gauranteed to go over 90,000km's, so they would be good for your travels...

I have crossed most of our deserts even while towing a trailer and have used just the plain BFG AT's. Run General AT2's now which have been better so far.

That is more likely to be the case for the St's or St C's with the correct rotations ect. my STT wore out after 30,000 max. they are good road tyres now.
