My V8 Grand power steering hose was leaking at the o ring at the fitting where the hose goes onto the pump - called into Northern Jeep (Bundoora) and the spare parts guys were great.
Apparently they do have a replacement fitting but includes hose as well for a couple of hundred bucks, but they didn't have this in stock, only the fitting itself - about $25 bucks.

Now getting the old fitting off the hose is tricky, as they press on with a steel clip - and once on, I don't think it can be easily removed.
So with a hacksaw blade and a grinder, we gently and patiently cut the old fitting off without damaging the flare on the pipe, and fitted the new one.

By the way, a box of assorted o rings at Supercheap was $6, but the o ring that was leaking on mine was inside the fitting, so couldn't replace just the o ring anyway.....

Not surprised, I priced a replacement ashtray after a junkie stole it and $3.47...$75 for a tiny bit of plastic. Even the spare parts girl suggest I life without it!

we stock a power steering pump kit with two hi temp O-rings, a hi temp seal, and three black O-rings, oen of which is the rite one and as far as i can tell the same size as the lower O-ring. ist $27.50 inc. and with that you would be able to ID and match the missing lower hose O-ring.

also stock P/Steer box kits for T/X/ZJ's with all a million components for $116.00 FYI.

Thanks for the reply. I can source the O rings from the local bearing supply but I have to get the size B4 hand - thats the problem.
Just dismayed me that the "Jeep thing" is well alive and kicking in the spare parts industry.

If I drove the XJ into their workshop I would be charged for a COMPLETE new hose plus fitting. A long way away from a probably priced .70c O ring from the local bearing company.
Thats my point...thats all.
