Well, what I can say is the next car (the Race car) turns up next week.
The running gear is here and work will start real soon. We only have 7 months left.

I will take pic's as we build.
There has been some changes to the plan... as we had some trouble with running a Hemi 5.7 so we have got hold of a Chev . We also have got hold of the diff's and transfer. We are looking for a th400 right now so we can do the work needed to it.
Diff's will be Dana 44 front and a big ass 60 in the rear.

I will tell you more as we move along

We have been working on the tow vehicle (nothing Jeep but) its a 95 0509 Ford Trader with a 5 wheel trailer running a gen 3 V8.

Hi All,

So Vehicle one is on the road and now work starts on the race car.

the shell turn up on friday so work will start on that this week. I'm driving around on the diff's because I stuffed the motor in the road car today . THe diff's are in a J10 along with the the np208 transfer... We are looking for a TH400 if anyone hears of on. The motor is sitting on a stand waiting its turn.
I will take more pic's on Wednesday when we start on the new body.

But for now he is a look at the colours we are running. The sponsors are still to be but on which will tone it down a little and blend it all together. The one with the hood up is with the expired motor. It still got me home (3hr drive)

We have a lot to do over the next 7 months but most of the parts are here now. So we can finally start work on the car its self. Before I show the photos of the build I'll give you all a run down on what going on now as a lot has changed over the planing stage. First of all the standard jeep running gear all goes out the window. If you are not familiar with the xj they dont have a chassis. So the first thing we need to do is strip it all down to a bare body and fabricate a chassis of our own. so we can mount all our suspension off that. We will be using Coil-over Y long arm front end with bump stops and a heaps of other work which you can follow here as we build it. The rear will be leaf still because of the rear diff we are running. To make up a coil-over rear end to swing a Dana60 would be just a little to hard in the time we have left... Yes thats right a Dana 60 in the rear. Its a whole lot of diff, but I have been racing a buggy for to long and I'm over needing to watch out for the running gear. Thats why not only a 60 in the rear but a 44 in the front. The transfer is a NP208 bolted up to a full house TH400 that Clifford's Automatics is building for us. So with all this weight we have with these big diffs and Running gear, we looked long and hard for a motor that would do the job. We started with a Gen 3 5.7lt out of a club sport but thats now going into the transport truck... Because we now have a bombed 2007 R8 motor to push us along. As a team we have a long way to go and finally we made a start on the body today after months of planing. These pic's are not a lot to look at but look in on this thread from time to time and see how its going

It looks a little said now but give it time

I can tell you I'm over XJ interiors, this is the 3rd one I have had to work on this year

The engine bay looks much better without all the crap in there although we still have more to remove

Now for some toys that are going in

Well its been a while since I have shared anything on the progress of the race jeep. We have been very busy with it. The fabrication side of any job like this takes its time. You find you spend more time thinking of ways to make it work then working on the car.
we have got a long way into the build now with the chassis mod's started. We have laminated the chassis inside and out. and started on the roll cage/ sub chassis today.

Here is some pic's of the chassis.... We have copies of the laser cut plates if your interested.

I hope you enjoy and see the work involved in this......lol
