Default 150dia trailer hub size for KJ steel wheels?

I'm using KJ steel wheels (thanks Palla!) on a new trailer I'm putting together. The standard hub available is a ford pattern with a 150dia hub. I've measured the back of the wheel and it seems that the bearing area is around 160dia. Has anyone had any experience with this? Do the standard 150 hubs do the job? I hope so coz that's what I've ordered!

Hey Indiedog,
How's that trailer build going?
I'm about to start one myself, and doing the same thing with my old kj steelies.

Hi Mikey. Got the trailer to the point where I could use it and register it for use over the Xmas break. No off road stuff just hauling baby gear on our holiday. It's not painted yet and I've got some design things to resolve before I do that. Going to get a camper top for it soon for a Moreton adventure.

The wheels work well. I got my axle and hubs from Vehicle Components and so far so good. I think I'll get shockies at some point to stop the banging.

What are the details for your trailer? Good luck with it. I have enjoyed doing mine.

Hey Indiedog,
Sounds like you're build is a bit more involved than mine.
Anyway, here's the link to the build.
Thanks for the supplier info.

Thanks for the link. My trailer is 1500 x 1200 and I've built it from scratch (or rather had others build bits and I've put it together). If I can assist with what worked for me let me know. I got an AT35 hitch and my 245/75/16 spare just gets over it when I open the tailgate. An expensive hitch but a good one. The hubs are the VC ford 150dia and they work well with the KJ steelies. VC were good with helping to work out the total axle length. Check out www.vehiclecomponents.com.au

Be wary of the spring over axle conversion. You should measure how high off the ground that will make the hitch considering the KJ wheels and see if this matches your car. You may also think about changing the springs to shackles and not slippers. Just more money! If the centres of the hangers suit it could be a relatively simple conversion.

Keen to see what it comes up like!
