I have spoken to someone who has told me that I may have cracked the chasis near the steering box, this is why there would be so much flex. I will be getting under the car again this arvo to double check (hopefully it isnt). I believe that the recall has been done already, so why would it crack?? Would the recall cover jeep to repair the crack if there is one or would it just be easier to speak with my insurance company to repair or write it off??

Any helpful suggestions/experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Speaking of crabbing, I once was driving the rover S2a down the drive and hit a 1 foot deep hole , tore out the rear drver side spring hanger which was pretty badly rusted, opened the gate and started driving down the road, looked in the rear vison mirror to see that the rear of the ute was running over in the side of the road. Chopped off a box from the wreck and welded back in , as far as I am aware its still in action with the new owner.
Maybe everyone should own a series rover to help find out just how good the xj is.
Hope its not too big a problem, spend the money on a good little mig and maybe it will work out for you in the long run, plenty of good help on this site will get you through. Good luck and hope you are able to keep the Xj.
