You have to look at the way spring spacers or BB lifts work and how they achieve lift to figure that one out..but as you rightly point out suspension travel re bumps stops have to be considered always but more so with coil spacers or BBs which is what I suspect the CDRSTU "Topout Plates" are and why I said ask a few questions to satify yourself before taking the plunge.

If you read the Dobinson brochure:

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Adding Coil Spring Spacers to the Vehicle may cause “Coil Bind” (all coils
closed together) before the bump stop comes into effect. This can cause
very serious damage to the spring and/or suspension components.
Also have a look at this: Bump Stops The Forgotten Component from www.unsealed4x4.com.au

Ask your auapension expert why they don't provide extended bump stops and if they claim it is for additional up-travel, walk away.....

I was having a look at the various suspensions companies sites for another rig and found that Ultimate Suspension now do a kit for the WK2. It is spring only, but they say they are working on shocks as well.

I have had ultimate on previous rigs and can say they do a good product.

Another option for guys looking for a lift kit,

OK, so I'm digging up an old thread. I have read through most of the threads on lift kits for the WK2, but still unable to decide. Before lifting I decided to use it off-road in stock form to see how it goes, and a lift kit is definitely required. This brings me to a few questions as I have read differing opinions on the various lift kits.

After requesting some quotes one of the installers emailed back recommending Dobinsons as they had issues with clunking in the suspension after some Murchison lift installations. Problem is Dobinsons is only a 40mm lift.

The Murchison lift kit lifts quite a bit higher, but then there's the question about the clunking. Another installer also mentioned that the spacers in the lift is not legal, but then again, so is a big lift. It's also a bit more expensive than a Dobinsons lift and does not include new shocks in the front, which the Dobinsons do.

So, to those with a Murchison lift - any issues with clunking noises after the install? How much does the CV and suspension angles change? Any problem in this area with a 2.75" lift? Realistically how much lift can be expected?

For those with a Dobinsons lift, can you comment on these? How much lift did you get - the advertised 40mm, or did it differ? This lift also reuses the stock Nivomat shocks and mentions nothing about spacers, not sure how these go with higher springs and no spacers.

Any inputs are welcome...

Default suspension lifts for WK2

I have had Murchison lift for two years no issues, I don't run any spacer in the front, lift around 2 inches.

Thanks Hutch. No spacer in the front - does that mean you don't have the front strut top plate?

That is correct, when I had mine fitted they have had some issues with 14 models with strut plate causing a vibration under hard acceleration so it recommend to leave it out, with the independent suspension u still have about 250mm of clearance on the front and about 270mm down the back. Mine also has jeep bash plates so that is a measurement to the plate.

Interesting Hutch. Do you know what the distance is from Centre of wheel to bottom of wheel arch?
