Default Stuff I did to the Jeep today

Well I did some stuff to the Jeep today. Spark plugs, Dizzy Cap, rotor.and leads. checked the 2 o2 sensors and found one that had been fiddled with by the previous owner, insulation tape all over the leads. Unplugged both and got rid of the short at the ASD, was 12v and 9.something volts now both 12volts. Fitted a new Start switch, got it from US$22.98..

Now I find another thing I have to replace IAC, said to the missus can you hear that she said "what!!" I said "the high pitched screaming" Checked it and it only goes one way. One side of the actuator is stuffed.

So I have to replace Purge valve, IAC, pre and post O2 sensors and I'm reckoning the PCM course I'm getting 9volts from somewhere and it can be the only thing that would do that??

I getting sick of walking everywhere!! The old legs are ready to drop off

Better buy a new car!!

Tomorrow I'm going to change the cps out from the new back to the old and see if that might change things.

Default PCM It is, You've sold me on that!!

Now where to get one I've got so many crowds that I can get it from they all want to re-program it, it shouldn't need re-programming..

Just watched EricO,
and he just condemned a computer a couple of year younger for the same issues that I've got. Now to source a USED pcm..

Probably better to buy in Australia but they're cheaper in the US..

Default PCM are expensive

Just ringing around trying to hunt up a pcm and I just got the fright if my life. I rang JEEEPARTS in Hervey Bay in Qld and dirtied the dudds they want $650 for a none re-manufactured and $1300 for a re-manufactured pcm. You know what I said "@#$%^&*" holly cow I'm better to buy from the US. Least ways the prices are better than that. Rang a company in Melbourne, VIC they will redo mine for $681 Precision Electronics.. There are a few about, just a matter of deciding who I want to buy from...

Thats crazy prices for a 25 year old Jeep.
Can you post up the exact part number.
I will look this end and see if there is anything available and much cheaper.
Thanks,

Your part number, which is visible on a sticker on the metal case of the PCM, without removing the black plastic cover will be 56041 in small numbers, then 3 BIG numbers.

For a '96, these may be 282, 200, and 293 (I think)

It has been reported to me that only a compatible '96 PCM will work in a '96, as pre 96 are OBD1, and 97 and later have both an immobiliser, and an expectation of connection to the transmission..(a '96 trans is not controlled by PCM)

If you put your part number into Google, it will take you to USA vendors that x-reference compatible part numbers, I think they are about $200 US

The guy i bought mine off might have had another I think, will try and look him up
