Mine went in last Thursday. Dealer experience was good, but they apparently didn't have gearbox oil in stock to change mine. I never get enough time to do it, so thought while it's in there get them to do it. Thought that was a bit weird.

Was looking for a thread to update instead of creating a new one, according to https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/...call/index.htm Jeep only stopped using the offending airbags in 2016, which means that even the 2014-2016 model vehicles which haven't been recalled still have the faulty airbag.

This is somewhat concerning due to how we use our vehicles the 5-6 years they claim for rust to take hold may be under-stated.

Is it possible to do a physical inspection?

Quote:
June 21, 2016: Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announces it will end NAFTA-market production of vehicles with non-desiccated amomonium-nitrate Takata air bag inflators by the end of June, with global production to end by mid-September. The 2016 Jeep Wrangler uses this type of inflator in the passenger-side airbag. Customers will be advised of vehicles that are so-equipped, and will be advised that the vehicles will be recalled in the future.
EDIT: Just saw that they have now added 2013 model years to the JK recall. Updated years to 2014-2016.

I checked mine. There are several screws that you remove, then carefully lift the edges of the dash panel to pop it out. The airbag is attached to the panel. Remember to disconnect the battery first. Here's a video.

It was the same on my rhd '08.

Default Anything to be aware of - trim damage etc?

Howdy All,

My 2013 JKU is going in to the workshop this Friday for the airbag recall.

Its a little different than the video above. Looks like glove box out and access that way or peeling back the dash trim on the LH side.

Any one had it done on the updated interior? Anything to be aware of or damage seen from poorly executed trade skills?

I will be taking pictures of it all as it is now so I can check for any changes.

Cheers,

Matt
