In favor.
Turned out my copper/brass rad was 70% blocked and had 3 tubes leaking when I had it serviced ( tbh, I thought it just had a leak...). Even in that poor condition it had only overheated once which was under the heaviest of circumstances. Its crazy how it cools now after the service.

Well in one way or another every XJ in OZ has their cooling system under stress
I wish there was a universal fix we all could do and we didn't always have to keep the temp gauge in the corner of our eye but there's not so it looks like we all have to do our thing to be cool LOL
Yes there are the basics that every car needs
But what I cant understand and why I started this thread is I have done my basic maintenance band bought new parts and Im still uncool LOl cant help but laugh
I am going to do the same 200 klm run to Barcaldine on the 10 th of Nov see what my temps are then?

junglejuice I still have the box the copper brass rad came in it has my aluminium plastic ebay radiator in tomorrow I will go down the shed and get the brand and any numbers off the box Interesting

Even a freshly fitted new radiator could end up being blocked due to garbage floating around in the cooling system being dislodged by the new coolant or flushing etc.....

Which is why the distributor/manufacturer advises it's a condition of warranty to install only after a cooling system flush...

FWIW I've always run copper/brass radiators in all my vehicles and have found them hardier than the OEM units, my current configuration (new radiator) with PCM controlled dual thermo fans keeps the temperature at or very near 100c, the manual over ride is the fail safe for when conditions exceed the PCM's control.
