Never seen the flywheel / clutch set up in a JK, much less a 'rattler', but have seen it done before. Similar symptoms in that clutch still sorta works, but clutch plate ends up with its centre not happy and flywheel bolts even less so. Clunk clunk clunk could be clutch plate centre 'interfacing' with flywheel bolts. Slipping caused by plate flexing more than being clamped flat, reducing friction area.

If that's what it proves to be, 'mechanic' that installed it needs to consider other career options.

would have been done by apprentices mate. this is a dealership doing the work.

Well, they're after a "special price" from Chrysler..
But I'm looking at 3400 for the flywheel and 900 for the clutch kit + fitting.

mate you will get them from overseas for heaps less, but jeepengines will have one in stock here in aus. for about $2600 for the full kit if you want to save money. then get it fitted privately. cheers.

Did they tell you what the actual problem was, it seems very strange there was a problem as soon as you got it back, what where they doing to it before you got it back, did it involve removing the engine or gearbox.

If out of warranty try some engineering shop..... Jeep action guys managed to get it machined. Looking at the pics from another thread sometime back the machining should cost you less than a couple of hundred........
